How to use a grey card for perfect exposure

This is a great site that covers how to use a grey card to get great exposure for video. This is something I have been studying a lot of late as I hope to use the grey card I have ordered of the internet to use for the raven project I have been working on. I hope that by learning how to do this efficiently I can get consistent colour for the project which will be incredibly helpful for the post production stage. I am still unaware how the footage is going to be edited and if the person editing it intends to colour correct and grade it as I would hope they would spend the time to sit down and ensure the footage is at least corrected to ensure a consistent look to the piece. As I am hoping to get a lot of the look in camera  I think the need for very heavy grading won’t be necessary however I think that by dropping some of the colour and bringing out more of the reds in the image the candles and the red light that intend to use for when he goes mad and trashes his room will stand out more. This is something I would personally do if I was editing and grading the piece however this will ultimately be up to the editor.
